LG's first Windows Phone handset in years

This is LG's first Windows Phone handset in years

Five years ago, LG stopped making Windows Phone handsets, choosing to focus on Android (with quite good results, we must add). Now, it looks like the South Korean company is finally ready to launch Windows-based smartphones again.

What we're seeing on the left (click on the image to zoom in) is, reportedly, an LG Windows Phone handset that could be available from Verizon Wireless this year. The device seems to be running Windows Phone 8.1, but, since Microsoft is planning to update most WP 8.1 handsets to Windows 10, we're thinking that this will also get the new version of the OS.

There's no word on what the leaked smartphone will be called, and neither on what features it's going to offer. However, it doesn't look like this is a high-end device, so if you were hoping to see a Windows Phone variant of the LG G3 (or, why not, of the LG G4), this definitely isn't it. Instead, this could be the 5-inch LG D635 that we told you about last year. If that's the case, the handset's display should offer a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. LTE and a front-facing camera are also on board (or at least that's what the new image suggests).

We assume that the new LG Windows Phone handset will be pretty affordable. What do you think, is this the right way for LG to get back into the Windows Phone game?
